KATHMANDU, May 11: Monday’s meeting of the Legislature-Parliament extended the tenure of the 'Constituent Assembly Election Study, Investigation and Suggestion Parliamentary Special Committee' for the next three months.

Committee President Laxman Lal Karna presented the proposal to extend the term as public hearings and onsite visit regarding irregularities and weaknesses seen in course of the second CA election as well as ways of making next election free and fair were not completed yet.

Before this, the tenure of the committee was already extended three times.

CA Chairman Subas Nembang presented the proposal for approval by the meeting and the meeting approved it.

The Committee was formed on the basis of political consensus after the UCPN (Maoist) as well as Madhesh-centric political parties were dissatisfied over the result of the second CA election held on November 19, 2013. The committee was formed on June 13, 2014.
