Issuing a press release, Nepal ISTU president Hom Kumar Thapa asked all schools to increase the salary immediately or face protest programs leading up to educational strike.[break]
Nepal ISTU put forward 10-point demands to Private and Boarding School Organization, Nepal (PABSON) and National PABSON; and six-point demands to Nepal Government.
Among major demands put forward are appointment letters, legal action against schools running without government approval and banning of foreign textbooks with chapters undermining nationalism.
Nepal ISTU also asked government to form a high-level mechanism for effective follow up and control of educational institutions.
