Survey, repair of border pillars begins in Rupandehi

RUPANDEHI, May 20: The joint team of Nepal and India started the survey and repair of the Nepal-India border pillars from today.

For the task surveyor Sanjeev Kumar Raut leads the Nepali team while Anil Goyal is leading the Indian team. The team also included the Armed Police Force and Indian security officials.

The joint meeting of Nepal-India Field Survey team held in the presence of senior officials of Nawalparasi, Rupandehi, and Kapilbastu districts and some Indian districts adjoining these districts on February 7 decided to conduct a survey and repair the damaged pillars at the international border.

Out of the 36 border pillars falling under the purview of the district, survey of 29 pillars is already made while survey of other seven pillars is yet to be made, according to the District Administration Office, Rupandehi.

The repair of four pillars is already completed in presence of both countries' security officials while repair and painting of other pillars is underway, said Chief District Officer of Rupandehi Toyam Rayamajhi. RSS
