Students, police clash in Dharan

DHARAN, March 24: As many as nine students aligned to All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) were injured in a scuffle with the police in Dharan on Wednesday.



District ANNISU-R member Nirajan Dahal and YCL cadres—Sushil Rai and Jamin Rai, sustained serious injuries on their head after the police resorted to baton charge to disperse the irate students. [break]



All the injured students are receiving treatment in BPKIHS, Dharan.



The scuffle erupted after the students demanded an immediate release of their colleagues—Bishnu Tamang alias Aakrosh, Chulung Limbu alias Suman and Pawan Chamling.



The police arrested the trio for violating the traffic rule by riding in a motorcycle.



Meanwhile, a meeting among the representatives of District Administration Office, ANNISU-R and UML is underway at the police office in Dharan.
