Student injured as Youth Association cadres attack school bus

BIRATNAGAR, June 16: A ten years old student fractured his skull when he was hit by a brickbat hurled by CPN-UML´s Youth Association cadres, who were protesting the arrest of their groups´ president Mahesh Basnet here Thursday. Arpan Pokharel, a sixth grader, was injured when Youth Association cadres attacked a school bus (Ko 1 Kha 1639).



The stone hit him in his right temple. He is currently undergoing treatment at Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar. Doctors informed that he will have to undergo an operation to fix the fracture. Though he is physically normal, he is traumatized, doctors said.[break]



The school bus was on its way to drop the students back home after the Youth Force cadres forced schools´ closure. Youth Force cadres suddenly attacked the bus with brickbats in front of Shiva Temple at Dharan road.



Various student organizations including the Madheshi Students Forum (Democratic), All Nepal National Independent Student´s Union (Revolutionary), Nepal Students´ Union, Madheshi Student Forum Nepal and Terai-Madhesh Student Front released a joint statement denouncing the attack on the school bus.



Youth Force cadres also vandalized a petrol tanker (Ba 3 Pa 1628) and a public bus (Ko1 Kha 2274) at Pipal Chowk.







Meanwhile, in the course of vandalism in Itahari, a nine-year-old child traveling in a bus was seriously injured, according to sub inspector Binod Shrestha. Prabin Limbu of Kanepokhari, Morang, who was traveling in a bus (Na 3 Kha 5842) was injured. He is receiving treatment at B P Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan.
