KATHMANDU, DEC 16: Madhes-based political parties have called on the UCPN (Maoist) to immediately stop declaring autonomous provinces on its own as it violates the jurisdiction of the Constituent Assembly (CA) and the agreement they reached with the government during the Madhes movement.[break]

A meeting of the Sadbhavana Party, Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (Democratic) and Tarai Madhes Democratic Party on Wednesday also concluded that the Maoist move is an attempt to trample upon the jurisdiction of the CA and derail the peace process.

"As these activities are illegal and a blatant violation of the overall peace process, we call on the UCPN (Maoist) to immediately stop them," reads a joint statement issued by the parties.

Concluding that the encroachment upon forest in Kailali and other places in the Tarai is a conspiracy to turn the indigenous and Madhesis living in those areas into minorities, the parties have demanded that the government take strict measures to stop such activities.
