Statute only after vacating PLA camps: MK Nepal

KATHMANDU, Feb 4: Senior leader of the CPN-UML, Madhav Kumar Nepal said the constitution would not be promulgated until the cantonments lodging the ex-Maoist fighters were vacated.



At a concluding gathering of the chiefs of students´ departments of the CPN-UML, leader Nepal said the UCPN-Maoist was creating obstruction in the peace process raising new issues beyond the agreements. Such attitude of the Maoist would not help make constitution, he stressed. [break]



Nepal Army was not directed about the army integration till date, he said, adding that new issues were raised in the voluntary retirement to obstruct army integration. Therefore, he concluded that until the Maoist hands over its arms and vacates the cantonments, constitution would not be promulgated.



He urged the Maoist-led government to revoke the decision on legalizing the conflict-era activities carried out by so called people´s government of the Maoist party.



Similarly, general secretary Ishwor Pokhrel urged the cadres to make the CPN-UML biggest political party through the coming election.



Other leaders including secretary Shankar Pokhrel expressed their views on the consolidation of the party organization.
