Statute draft sans federalism unacceptable: Mahato

PARSA, Aug. 7: Central Chairperson of the Sadbhawana Party (SP), Rajendra Mahato has warned of foiling efforts to unveil the first draft of the constitution without the provision of federal states by all means.



Addressing a programme organized by SP, Parsa district committee to welcome new entrants to party in Birgunj on Saturday, chairperson Mahato said the conspiracy of three political parties to bring first draft of the constitution ignoring federalism will not be materialized in any pretext. He accused the three major political parties of hatching conspiracy to avert federalism by forming the state restructuring commission.



The Unified CPN (Maoist) has been lackadaisical to carry forward the peace process to logical end because of their attraction to weapon, he accused, adding the peace and constitution drafting have not been delivered in the absence of national consensus government.



SP co-chair Laxman Lal Karna said it will be mistake to promulgate new constitution without managing the weapons kept in Maoist cantonments.



Chairperson Mahato welcomed the new entrants to party by offering them red powder on the occasion.
