Surya Narayan Sah was abducted by an armed group while was heading toward Paltebash Secondary School in Triyuga-11 along with fellow teacher Prahlad Thakur on the last working day before the Dashain festival.[break]
A group of around 10 persons had abducted Sah from a forest along the Gaighat-Kadmaha road in Laxmipur, Saptari. They had released Thakur after taking him two kilometers away from the site of abduction.
Inspector at District Police Office, Saptari Bhuwaneshwar Mukhiya claimed that though Sah was abducted from Saptari the case is linked with Siraha. Sah also dealt in realty and Inspector Mukhiya said preliminary investigations shows this could be the reason behind his abduction. Mukhiya said fellow teacher Thakur is also under suspicion as he was not abducted despite being with Sah.
Police said Sah had received extortion calls from armed underground outfits in the past and his fellow teachers also felt he may have been kidnapped for refusing to cough up donations. Sah was staying at his home in Lahna-3 but the rest of his family has been living in Biratnagar.
“We have mobilized special police teams from Saptari, Udayapur and Siraha districts. Our first priority is his safe release,” SSP Keshari Raj Ghimire said.
