KANCHANPUR, Nov 14: Indian Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB) has stopped Nepali farmers from importing wheat seed to Nepal from the nearby Indian market for the last few days.

The SSB has adopted strict measures to stop export of wheat seeds through the Banbasa border point after the Agricultural Departmental Store based in Pilivit of India urged the SSB to stop Nepali farmers from doing so, according to Police Sub-inspector Netra Prasad Bhattarai of Gaddachauki.[break]

He said SSB has seized six quintals of wheat seed in last two days.

Nepali farmers began to go to nearby Indian markets following a shortage of seeds in the Nepali market due to failure of wheat seed stores to collect sufficient seed on time.
