Sri Lanka 175-8 at tea on day 3of 3rd test vs. India

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, Aug 30: Kusal Perera scored an attacking half-century on debut to take Sri Lanka over the follow-on mark but the hosts continued to trail India by a big margin in the first innings at tea on the third day of the third test on Sunday.

Sri Lanka had reached 175 for eight at the break still 137 runs behind India's first innings score of 312.




Perera came in with Sri Lanka 47 for six and soon found himself in the company of tail-enders when his last specialist batting partner Lahiru Thirmanne was out with no addition to the total.

Perera paired with No. 9 Rangana Herath for a 79-run stand for the seventh wicket.

Herath was 47 not out.

Seamer Ishant Sharma picked up four wickets for 39 for India.
