SPORTS BRIEFS: Udayapur Gold Cup from Friday

UDAYAPUR : The second edition of Udayapur Gold Cup Football Tournament will kick off on Friday, a day prior to the pre-scheduled date. The organizers said they have reached the final stage of preparations for the seven-day tournament. The event to be held on the premises of Triyuga Higher Secondary School in Gaighat will feature a total of eight teams, including four A division teams.



Himalayan Sherpa Club, Saraswati Club, Armed Police Force (APF) and Three Star Club are the A division teams to compete in the tournament while Knight Chess Club and Jagriti Club of Jhapa, host Udayapur XI and Morang XI are the other teams. The winner and the runner-up will bag a purse of Rs 150,000 and Rs 100,000 respectively. The highest scorer will be awarded with Rs 10,000. The expected cost of the event is Rs 2 million.
