SPORTS BRIEFS: Nobel triumph in basketball

KATHMANDU, June 28: Nobel Academy defeated White House B in a group stage match in men´s section of the First Nobel Cup 3-on-3 Basketball at the covered hall of Dasharath Stadium on Monday.



Nobel had a comfortable 33-13 victory over White House. Rajesh Maharjan scored the highest 18 points for the winning side. [break]



In women´s section, New Summit and NASA A emerged victorious. New Summit edged past Dharan 19-15 and NASA defeated White House 33-18. Asin Ghimire and Anita Giri netted six points apiece for New Summit and Samista Neupane scored 14 points for NASA.





Inter-school football



KATHMANDU, June 28: Sri Krishna Higher Secondary School defeated Jana Uddhar Higher Secondary School 2-0 in the Coca-Cola Cup Inter-school Boys´ National Football Tournament at the Sano Gaucharan grounds on Monday.



Himalaya Boarding School ousted Anupam Bidya Sadan 3-0 and JP School edged past Chelsea Int´l 3-1. Similarly, National United High School saw off Nandi 2-1.



In other matches played at the Chyasal grounds, Snowland Ranag, Bal Bikash and Darbar High School emerged victorious. Snowland Ranag hammered Manohar School 6-0, Bal Bikash thrashed Tika Vidyashram on Monday 5-2. Darbar School got walkover from The Imperial School.
