Hope Valley triumphs
KATHMANDU: Host Hope Valley Scholars Academy (HVSA) on Tuesday won all the matches in the First HVSA 3X3 Basketball Tournament. In the senior boys´ category, host HVSA thrashed New Shrine ´A´ 31-0 with 12 points from Tej Khadka. In another match, Nirmal Lamichhane´s eight points guided the host for a 15-2 win over Future Star. In junior boys´ category, the host beat Children Garden 8-0. In the girls´ category, HVSA defeated Future Star 8-0. Altogether eight teams are participating in the girls´ and junior boys´ categories while 12 teams are competing in the senior boys´ category.
TIA, Kathmandu Valley into quarters
KATHMANDU: TIA, Kathmandu Valley and Golden Peak advanced into the quarterfinals of the First BST Cup Inter School Basketball Tournament on Tuesday. TIA defeated Hope Valley Scholars Academy 37-22 with 13 points from Kesang Thakuri. Aang Tshering Sherpa´s 21 points guided Kathmandu Valley for a 33-30 narrow margin win over Forward Academy. In the last match of the boys´ section, Golden Peak beat Nava Jeevan by 50-32 with 25 points from Anish Thapa. In the girls´ section, Bagmati edged past Valley Public 27-25 and advanced into the quarterfinal. Shanti Shrestha netted 10 points for the winning team.
BBC into final
KATHMANDU: Banepa Boys Club (BBC) advanced into final of the First PUFA Nationwide Invitation Cup Football Tournament with a hard-fought 6-5 sudden death win over Nawa Jyoti Youth Club of Kalanki on Tuesday at Panchkhal, Kavre. The winner was decided through sudden death after the regulation and added time ended in a 1-1 draw and the tie-breaker also ended in a 5-5 stalemate. In the sudden death, BBC´s goalie Dhiraj Sunuwar made a brilliant save to deny the spotkick taken by Nawa Jyoti´s skipper Roshan Ranjit and send his team into the final. Goalie Sunuwar was adjudged the man-of-the-match. Earlier, BBC had taken a 29th minute lead through Sansar Nanda Palanchowke but Nawajyoti leveled the match in the 63rd minute through Subash Gurung.

KATHMANDU: Host Guheshwari Football Academy (GFA) and Kathmandu University (KU) from group A, and KU B and Amar English Boarding School from group B on Tuesday advanced into the semifinal of Guheshwari Girls´ Cup Football Tournament being held in the capital. KU A edged past Brihaspati Vidya Sadan 1-0 with a lone goal from Sajina Rai. KU B defeated Modern Indian School 1-0. Arkita Shakya scored the winning goal for KU B. The match between Amar Gram Sewa ended in a goalless draw.
