SPORTS BRIEFS:Khumaltar, Gupteshwar in semis

KATHMANDU, Feb 21: Khumaltar Yuva Club, Khumaltar and Gupteshwar Yuva Club, Bhardev have advanced to the semifinal of the Sunakothi Cup Open Lalitpur District-wide Football Tournament being held in the capital.



Khumaltar beat host Sunakothi 2-0 while Gupteshwar secured a 3-1 victory over Buddha Marga Yuva Club, Nakhipot. [break]



Teresa, HIMS win titles


KATHMANDU: The senior girls’ team of Teresa Academy on Tuesday won the title of the 10th Gyan Niketan Inter-school Basketball Tournament. Sabina Tamang scored 25 points as Teresa beat Mahendra Bhawan 58-49 in the final. In the senior boys’ section, HIMS lifted the title defeating Neric 58-51.



Sonam Tamang scored 21 points for the winning team. Meanwhile, the junior boys’ team of AIA edged past Neric 51-49 riding on 32 points from Subash Sen.
