Karate association registered at NSC
KATHMANDU: Nepal Karate Do Association was registered at the National Sports Council as its 104th association on Friday. The association is lead by Jug Bahadur Lama, an ex-Indian Army personnel. Lama organized a press meet in Kathmandu to announce the registration. Ganga Bahadur Sinjali and Rakesh Bahadur Rana are the vice-presidents of the association while Nandan Singh Baral is the general secretary.
U-19 basketball starts Saturday
KATHMANDU: The White House Cup U-19 National Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship will start from Saturday at the home court of White House College. Altogether 24 teams in the men’s category and 10 teams in the women’s category will participate in the tournament. The winner of the tournament will receive Rs 25,000 and the runner-up will receive Rs 15,000 in both categories. The most valuable player of the tournament will bag a purse of Rs 10,000.
Rinji, Ayusha bag gold
KATHMANDU: Rinju Sherpa and Ayusha Shrestha from New Buddha bagged gold in boys’ group A and girls’ group B respectively in the ongoing First WMMC National Inter-school Whusu Tournament on Friday in Changquan event. Sherpa scored 8.25 points and Shrestha got 6.50 points for the gold. In group ‘C’ of same event, Bijay Magar bagged gold with 7.75 points in the boys’ category. In the girls’ category of the same event, Yunisha Thapaliya scored 6.95 points to bag gold. In the boys’ Nanquan event, Bishal Magar finished first.
