Kunwar to compete in para taekwondo
KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Nepali player Yadav Kunwar will compete in the Fourth WTF World Para Taekwondo to be held on Friday in Lausanne, Switzerland. Kunwar will compete in the men´s 68 kg category. According to Nepal Taekwondo Association, this is the first time that a Nepali player is competing in para taekwondo. Janardan KC is the coach and manager of the team. National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama bade farewell to Kunwar and KC on Wednesday. They will leave for Switzerland on Thursday.
Sambo team off to Uzbekistan
KATHMANDU: Two Nepali players left for Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Wednesday to compete in the Asian Open Sambo Championship to be held there from June 6 to 11. Ranju Rai will compete in the women´s U-60 kg category under sports while Gopal Pun Magar will vie in men´s 62 kg in the men´s combat section. Nepal Sambo Federation President Dhananjay Shrestha, who is currently in Russia, will join the team in Tashkent. Earlier, National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama bade farewell to the players amidst a function on Wednesday.
