KATHMANDU, Aug 29: Wilson Academy secured semifinal berth in junior boys´ category of the Valley-wide Inter-school Basketball Tournament (Wilson Hoops) on Sunday. The hosts eased past Young Heart 33-21 as Dhiren Magar scored 13 points for the winners.
Meanwhile, HIMS, Pennwood, Araniko, Wilson and Ullens Academy advanced into the quarterfinals of senior boys´ category. HIMS defeated Galaxy 43-31 while Pennwood beat Rupy´s School 52-34. Likewise, Araniko thrashed The British School 53-8 and Wilson outclassed RIBS 36-11. Ullens thumped Young Heart 56-20.
Lincoln win swimming trophy
KATHMANDU, Aug 29: Lincoln School clinched the trophy of the Third HIMS Inter-school Swimming Championship on Sunday. Lincoln accumulated 112 points to win the title for the second time.
Defending champions Little Angels´ were runners-up with 78 points while Baba Boarding School claimed the third spot with 47 points.
Meanwhile, Yogen Sherpa of HIMS won the gold in U-10 boys´ 25 m backstroke while Sonira Gurung won the same event of U-10 girls.
In 15-16 age group, Shreya Dhital of Lincoln won 50 m backstroke of girls while Jan Heijdra of the same school won the event in the boys´ category. Dhital and Heijdra also won golds in 50 m free-style of their respective categories. Dhital also claimed gold in girls´ 100 m individual medley.
