The organizers have expected participation of more than 100 players in the championship. Top three finishers in men´s singles and doubles, women´s singles and doubles will be awarded with cash prizes of Rs 30,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 7,000 respectively. The expected cost of the event is Rs 1.2 million.
Three Star-NRT match rescheduled for Friday
KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) postponed Thursday´s super league round match of the Martyrs Memorial Red Bull A Division Football League scheduled to be held between leader Three Star Club and New Road Team (NRT) owing to technical reasons. According to ANFA sources, the match was postponed due to Nepal Banda called by some political parties effective from 12:00 NST to 17:00 NST Thursday.
"The match will be played on Friday at 15:30 NST if the situation remains normal otherwise it will be conducted at 17:30 NST under floodlights," a press release issued by ANFA on Thursday stated. After the completion of the 17th round, Three Star leads the points table with 38 points, six points ahead of second placed MMC. NRT is in the fourth place with 29 points.
Lumbini Karate kicks off
KATHMANDU: Ishwari Thapa of the Armed Police Force (APF) reached the quarterfinals of the women´s 45 kg weight category as the 39th National Lumbini Karate Championship kicked off in Rupandehi on Thursday. Thapa beat Anusha Bista of Sagarmatha zone to reach the last eight. Likewise, Arun Kunwar of Seti, Chandra Khadka of University Sports Association Nepal and Sanam Lama of Nepal Police reached the quarterfinals of the men´s 50 kg weight category. National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama inaugurated the tournament, participated by 399 players from 14 zones and three departmental clubs -- Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army.
