NECOS also claimed that the bereaved family has warned of self-immolation if the state continues to ignore them. "It´s a sensitive issue and NECOS has decided to raise the voice for the bereaved family," said NECOS President Purushottam Paudel. "State authorities should provide financial assistance to Yadav´s family as soon as possible. Otherwise, it could be too late," he added. NECOS also asked the government to investigate the incident and take action against the murderers.
NPWF announces assistance to Yadav´s family
National Players´ Welfare Fund (NPWF) announced financial assistance to the family of late wrestler Yadav. The fund´s executive committee meeting chaired by National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama on Sunday decided to provide Rs 84,000 in total to the bereaved family as scholarship to Yadav´s three children.
Likwise, the fund will also provide Rs 100,000 to boxing coach Krishna Man Shrestha, who has been suffering from Motor Neurone Disease. Meanwhile, the fund decided to waive Rs 100,000 provided to judoka Debu Thapa as financial assistance for his treatment.
Him Shikhar claims 3rd place
KATHMANDU: Him Shikhar English School, Sunsari finished third in the boys´ section of the Coca-Cola Inter School National Football Tournament. Him Shikhar edged past Army School, Pokhara in sudden death on Sunday´s third place playoff at the ANFA Technical Center, Chaysal, Lalitpur. The regulation time ended in a goalless draw and the tiebreaker remained at 5-5. Him Shikhar bags Rs 50,000 for finishing third.
Likewise, Tops Higher Secondary School, Pokhara defeated Public Higher Secondary School, Sunsari 2-1 in the third place playoff in the girls´ section. Bimala Chaudhary and Susmita Chaudhary scored a goal each for Tops while Asmita Pariyar netted the consolation goal for Public School. Tops will receive Rs 50,000. The final matches of the Coca-Cola Cup will take place on Dasharath Stadium on Monday.
Double delight for TIA
KATHMANDU: Both the white and blue teams of host Trungram International Academy (TIA) secured semifinal berths in the First TIA Nine-A-Side Football Tournament on Sunday. TIA (white) defeated Rehdon 1-0 while TIA (blue) edged past Pinnacle in sudden death. Likewise, Pyramid beat Morgan 2-1 to secure its place in the last four. Pyramid will take on TIA (white) while TIA (blue) will lock horns with St Lawrence on Tuesday.
National, Bagmati into semis
KATHMANDU : National Campus and Bagmati Modern College advanced into the semifinals of boys´ section in the Third Bern Hardt Cup Inter-college Basketball Tournament on Sunday. National thrashed VS Niketan 77-40 to reach the semifinals while Bagmati pulled off a thrilling 41-40 victory over GoldenGate.
Bagmati, Valley Public girls set up title clash
KATHMANDU: Bagmati has set up a final showdown with host Valley Public in the girls´ section of the Seventh Valley Public Inter-school Basketball Tournament. Valley Public edged past Daffodil 25-21 in the semifinal on Sunday riding on Shanti Shrestha´s 22 points, while Bagmati beat Angels´ Heart 30-28. In the boys´ section, TIA will vie for the title with Baba Boarding. TIA defeated host Valley Public 39-36 as Keshang Thakuri scored 27 points for the winning team. Baba outclassed HIMS 45-41 in another semifinal match.
Xavier Int´l lifts 3x3 title
KATHMANDU: Xavier International College clinched the title of the First Brihaspati Inter-college 3x3 Monsoon Basketball Tournament on Sunday. Xavier defeated Rupy´s 15-10 to clinch the title. Binesh Neupane of Xavier won the most-valuable-player award. The winning team bagged Rs 10,000 while the runner-up received Rs 5,000.
