The Ministry is finalizing the package within days with the realization that the State should take care of such combatants, she shared in a conversation with RSS.
The Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction is preparing the relief package for the disabled Maoist former combatants amidst criticism by the disabled combatants themselves that the Seven-point Agreement signed among the major political parties on November 1was silent on relief to the disabled combatants.
According to the Peace Minister, provisions have been made for giving special concession to the disabled combatants in the public transport. She said the government is doing homework for setting up a fund for their treatment.
Similarly, special identity cards would be issued to the disabled combatants, Minister Pahadi added.
Program for providing free education to women combatants who are nursing mothers and for offering them special stipends has been prepared and the Council of Ministers in its coming meeting will endorse it for implementation.
The Peace and Reconstruction Minister expressed the belief that this package being prepared by the Ministry when the regrouping of the Maoist combatants is underway will provide special relief to the disabled combatants.
There are some 500 disabled combatants in the seven main camps and the 21 satellite camps of the Maoist People’s Liberation Army (PLA) across the country.
