Gurung told Republica that the school-level tournament is being held for the first time in South Asia.
“We used to play friendly games. But this time, we have come up with the concept of school-level games,” he said. [break]
Gurung said they will conduct the selection tournament in mid-September about a week ahead of the main event. The final selection will depend upon the result of the Third National School-level Boys´ and Girls´ Handball Tournament, which will be held soon after the preliminary selection round.
The NHA will organize the event using its own funds. The estimated cost of the event is Rs 900,000, according to Gurung.
NHA General Secretary Bishwa Bam Malla unveiled the calendar for the fiscal year 2070/71 during the general assembly held in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu.
According to Malla, the association is set to organize the First National Men´s Open Handball Tournament next month and the 16th Men´s and 8th Women´s National Handball Tournament later this year. Referee refresher course in all five development regions is also on the cards.
NHA has estimated a total budget of Rs 12.9 million to conduct all the ambitious programs in the calendar.
