Six injured in Nawalparsi clash airlifted to capital

KAWASOTI, May 10: Six persons, who were seriously injured in a clash that took place between demonstrators and police on May 9 in Nawalparasi district, have been sent to Kathmandu for further treatment by Nepal Army helicopter.



The clash took place between the police and demonstrators at Kawasoti and Danda when the Tharu Struggle Committee was calling Nawalparasi banda on Wednesday to protest vandalisation of Tharu Museum at Danda, during the banda called by the Committee on Tuesday.



Police had fired 12 rounds of bullet and 20 rounds of tear gas in the clash. At least 17 people from the two sides were injured in the clash.



Seriously injured Police Inspector at the Area Police Office, Gaindakot, Dilliram Pandey and Sub Inspector Krishna Khanal and demonstrators Dhan Bahadur Thanet, Bishal Chaudhary, Tara Bahadur Thanet and Mahendra Alemagar have been sent to Kathmandu from Bharatpur for further treatment at 10:00 am this morning, said Superintendent of Police, Gyan Bikaram Shah.



Meanwhile, a multilateral meeting is going on at the District Administration Office in view of sit-in programmes called in the district while May 27 deadline of promulgating the new constitution, is coming closer.
