Sita Air plane crashes at Humla airport

NEPALGUNJ June 1: A Sita Air plane was crashed at Simikot airport, Humla district at around 7.10 on Saturday morning.



According to Bhola Prasad Guruagain, Regional Director at Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, the Dornier aircraft met with an accident while landing after touching the runway as the right wing of the aircraft touched the ground.



A total of five passengers were on board while the accident happened.  The plane was flown by Pilot Kiran Bhattarai and co-pilot Deepak Shah from Nepalgunj.



Guragain further informed that although the most parts of plane have sustained damages, no human causalities have been reported in the incident.



Meanwhile, it has been learnt that the incident occurred as the pilot and co-pilot forcefully landed the plane despite the presence of heavy fog at the runway.
