Singh warns of agitation against govt

KATHMANDU, July 28: Nepali Congress general secretary Prakashman Singh has warned of taking to the street if Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai did not resign from the post and ensure an atmosphere for consensus.



Addressing a party gathering organized by the NC Kathmandu Constituency No. 7 on the occasion of 30th BP Memorial Day on Saturday, Singh urged the Prime Minister to immediately quit the post and pave the way for formation of consensus government.[break]



"The Congress is never against federalism," he said underlining the need of federalism friendly to ethnic community, Madhesis, Dalits and women.



Also speaking at the program, NC central member Dr Minendra Rijal said recent decision of the government to provide facilities to country´s former dignitaries that was come through an ordinance is totally ´wrong´.



It would be better for the sake of the nation if facilities were determined on the basis of certain criteria, he added.



Likewise, NC former central member Shyam Lal Shrestha stressed that the party should adopt the ideologies of great leaders like BP Koirala and Ganeshman Singh for the strengthening of party.



Around 300 party leaders and cadres from the constituency No. 7 were present at the program.
