“The separate room for journalists will help them collect information relating to the judiciary in an easy and effective manner," Sharma said, adding, “One shouldn´t escape from the presence of the press. I believe that everyone should work in collaboration with media.”
“We want to encourage journalists to carry legal issues," said Dr Ram Krishna Timalsena, “The space for journalists will enhance their work efficiency in reporting and writing news stories on judicial issues.”
Assistance spokesperson of the SC, Hemanta Rawal, said that the room set up for journalists will be equipped with computer and telephone shortly.
Meanwhile, CJ Sharma stressed the need to amend the provision on 35-day deadline for filing rape cases in court.
“The 35-day deadline is insufficient," he said, adding, “The deadline can be extended for six months for taking up cases against rape.” He said that a sizable number of rape cases were not taken to court due to the time constraint.
