Senior team beat U-21

KATHMANDU, Jan 22: Sharad Vesawkar hit 45 runs to steer the Senior Team to a four-run win on Friday in the T20 U-21 versus Senior Team practice match held at the Pulchowk ground.



With the senior team opting to bat first, Sharad hit four fences in his 49-ball knock to help his team put up a 110-run challenge against the U-21 team as they lost nine wickets in the allotted overs and bowled out U-21 for 100 runs in 19.5 overs. [break]



Mehboob Alam (13), Mahesh Chhetri (12) and Dipendra Chaudhary (12) were the only other batsmen to contribute double figure runs for the senior team. Amrit Bhattarai pocketed four and Prithu Baskota hauled two wickets for U-21.



Pradeep Aire smashed 31 off 23 balls for U-21 with two boundaries and a six while Naresh Budhayer hit 22 and Binod Bhandari and Anil Mandal added 13 runs apiece. Shakti Gauchan and Basanta Regmi claimed three and two scalps of U-21 respectively.



The match is held in a bid to prepare for the South Asian Games (SAG) cricket to begin from next week in Bangladesh.



The U-21 team is participating in the SAG and the senior team is preparing for the ICC Pepsi Division Five League Cricket Tournament to begin in the capital from February 20.
