Talking to myrepublica.com, Mainali said that he has not received appointment letter from the government and he only knew about the appointment informally. After the cabinet decision, he was on a week-long leave until Sunday.
Mainali´s promotion became controversial after Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and a minister representing the UML said publicly that Mainali was never promoted but was only transferred to the President’s Office.
