KATHMANDU, June 1: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday dismissed the allegations made by outgoing Justice Bala Ram KC against the apex court decision to extend the term of Constituent Assembly (CA).

Justice KC, who is retiring after a week and is currently on leave, had said in an interview with a daily newspaper that the SC verdict on the CA term extension was wrong. [break]

KC had said that SC Justice Kalyan Shrestha shouldn´t have shared the bench. He had also questioned the competence of SC justices and accused them of misusing state facilities.

"The special bench formed to handle the writ petition against CA term extension was set up with fairness. There was no ill intention in the formation of special bench as claimed by Justice KC," reads a press statement issued by the SC and signed by apex court Assistant Spokesperson Hemanta Rawal.

We request all quarters of lives not to trust such baseless statements or be misled by such statement, he said.

A case of contempt of court was submitted at the SC against Justice KC on Tuesday. The SC has however not registered the case, so far.

Advocate Sunil Ranjan Singh submitted a contempt of court case against outgoing Justice KC, accusing him of flouting the code of conduct for judges by criticising the apex court in a recent interview with a daily newspaper.
