KATHMANDU, April 2: The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the government to search for people disappeared during the Maoist armed conflict.

"It is the duty of the government to find the missing people," Justices Anup Raj Sharma and Prakash Chandra Sharma Wosti ruled after hearings on a writ petition filed on behalf of 432 people allegedly disappeared by the security forces during the conflict period.

Advocate Babu Ram Giri had filed the writ petition in 2004, seeking a court order to the government to search for the whereabouts of the disappeared people.
