Branded as well as non-branded stores in the city have announced different schemes to clear their stock and introduce new collections for the summer. Peter England, Jeanswest and Garb at Civil Mall, Style and Self Fashion Wear at United world Trade Center, Reebok at Durbar Marg and Sphinx at City Center are some of the stores that have announced end of seas sales, offering attractive discount for customers.
According to traders, they are receiving overwhelming response of customers toward such sale schemes. The response is so encouraging that stores record up to 50 percent rise in business. [break]
“Business transactions increase by as much 50 percent when sale is announced,” Laxman Shrestha, one of the proprietors of Sphinx, told Republica. “The response is even better when our offers are carried by mass media.”
Mayjan Rai, owner of Track and Trail at People´s Plaza, said sale offers draw customers in drove as they can get best deals at cheaper price. He said business transactions at his store increases by 25-30 percent when sale is announced.
Trades say a sizeable number of people in the city wait for stores to announce sales offers. The number of such people is growing with each passing year as they can shop goods at discounted prices.
Dilip KC, manager of Reebok store at Durbar Marg, said even branded stores that sell goods at fixed price have started announcing sales. “Our business increases by 20 percent when such sale schemes are announced because we also get buyers who otherwise won´t have entered our store,” he added.
Stores generally announce sales twice a year - during end of summer and winter - to clear their stocks and introduce new collections.
