KATHMANDU, June 24: The first general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is underway in Chitwan, with voting for the new leadership scheduled for 9 AM Wednesday.

After Monday’s session ended without discussion, the convention resumed on Tuesday with four hours of deliberations, after which party President Rabi Lamichhane filed his candidacy for the post. Prime Minister and Senior Leader Balendra Shah proposed Lamichhane’s candidacy.
Other leaders have also registered their candidacies for various positions. The Central Election Commission has already started implementing the election schedule following the conclusion of the closed session.
