Bista criticized the party leaders for appreciating the new constitution as the best one which according to him is against the party's stated policy."Though it is claimed that the new constitution was made as per the people's aspirations, people have no ownership on this because it was produced by discarding the suggestions of 94 percent of people from Omkar family who were for strictly banning proselytize under any pretext," Bista said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Without naming any leader in the statement, Bista fiercely criticized the leadership for not standing firm in favor of RPP-N's stated policy to support Hindu state and constitutional monarchy and disrespecting 630,000 votes given for the party in the election of Constituent Assembly-II.
"Disrespecting the votes given to the RPP-N, the new constitution is described as the best one. This is seriously objectionable and it is an artificial claim," he said.
Bista, who was a minister during the Panchayat regime and also after the restoration of democracy in 1990, argued that RPP-N shouldn't have taken any oath of office in accordance with the new constitution.
The RPP-N joined the present government under the leadership of the party Chairman Kamal Thapa, who is deputy prime minister, minister for foreign affairs as well as local development and federal affairs. Bista's son Biraj Bista is assistant minister for local development and federal affairs in the present coalition.
He has also demanded that the party should be relieved of someone's unlimited ambitions, arrogance and arbitrary decisions and that there should be a respect for differing views in the party.
