The party said the agreement between the two parties about forming a separate security force for Maoist combatants breaches the jurisdiction of Special Committee for Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation.[break]
“That is something to be decided by Special Committee. If leaders of two big parties meet inside a closed door for a secret agreement on the matter, it would render the Special Committee defunct,” said RJP Co-Chairman Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani.
The Special Committee comprises of members from Nepali Congress and Madhes-based parties.
"Are they supposed to make any kind of deal they like to gain power?" Lohani asked. He said such an agreement can be detrimental to the successful conclusion of peace process and promulgation of new constitution. “Who gave [Maoist Chairman] Dahal and [UML Chairman] Khanal the authority to undermine the jurisdiction of Special Committee?” he asked, adding: “They must clarify the deal to Nepali people.”
Lohani also argued that another agreement about heading the government on rotational basis by the two parties disregards other major parties in the country. “It is unbecoming of matured leader like Jhalanath Khanal to contrive such an agreement,” he said. “This has only deepened the environment of mistrust among political parties.”
