Magar, who had been absconding ever since he was convicted, was arrested by a security patrol of the national park on September 2.
Although he was not caught red-handed, Magar was convicted of killing a rhino and selling its horn on June 11, 2008.
According to a statement issued by CNP on Monday, Magar had killed a one-horned rhino in Materi region inside the national park in April, 2005. He was slapped with a 15-year jail term and a fine of Rs 1,00,000.
CPN Assistant warden Tikaram Poudel said Magar was, just two weeks after his arrest, directly sent to jail as he had already been convicted of the crime.
In its statement, CNP has also informed that four more people arrested on the charge of rhino poaching have been sent to judicial custody.
Dal Bahadur Praja, Mangale Praja and Padam Nagarkoti of Shaktikhor VDC and Santa Bahadur Praja of Dahakhani VDC, who were arrested by a joint patrol team of the CNP officials, the Nepal Army (NA) personnel and the police last month, have been remanded to judicial custody for further investigation.
