Rescue teams fail to reach five villages in Dhading

DHADING, April 27: Rescue teams have failed to reach remote villages in the northern part of the district, including Ri, Jharlan, Lapa, Tiplin, Sertun and Tripureshwar. Efforts to bring in relief via helicopter have still been unsuccessful as the helicopters are unable to land at these villages.



More than 300 people have died in Dhading district after the earthquake that had its epicenter in the neighboring district of Gorkha.

Although the exact number of the wounded has still to be released, more than 200 people have been rescued for treatment, Constituent Assembly member Gangalal Tuladhar added that around 80% of mud and stone buildings have been destroyed.


The wounded rescued from villages like Jivanpur, Kevalpur, Nilkantha, and Baireni have been taken to Chitwan, Pokhara and Kathmandu in helicopters for further treatment.
