Rana siblings win record eight medals

BIRGUNJ, Feb 26: Siblings Shaila and Shailesh Rana of Central Region won a record eight medals, including four golds, in swimming during the inaugural day of the Sixth National Games in Birgunj on Sunday.



The Rana siblings, who competed in four different events each, won medals in all the events. Shailesh claimed gold in 200 m breaststroke clocking 2:47:44 minutes, 200 m backstroke clocking 2:52:56 minutes and 100 m butterfly with a timing of 1:11 minute. He bagged silver in 400 m freestyle. His elder sister Shaila clinched gold in 200 m freestyle, silvers in 200 m breaststroke and backstroke, and bronze in 100 m butterfly. She finished the 200 m freestyle in 2:47:50 minutes.



Shreya Dhital of Central Region claimed golds in 200 m backstroke and 100 m butterfly. She clocked 3:09:78 minutes in backstroke and 1:30:28 minute in butterfly.



Meanwhile, Central Region clean swept all 30 medals on Sunday with 10 gold, silver and bronze medals each.
