Rame of RNGC finished with a score of eight-under 193 to win the third title of his career. He carded three-over 64 on the final day to complete a one-stroke win over overnight leader and Nepal No 1 Shiva Ram Shrestha. RNGC Shiva Ram shot one-over 68 for the 54-hole total of seven-under 194.
Rame was awarded a cash prize of Rs 55,000, while Shiva Ram received Rs 37,000.
The title race took an interesting turn at the end of the front ninth hole. Shiva Ram, who began the final round with three-stroke lead, shot one-over 34 on the front nine while Rame carded four-under 29. At this point, Rame was one stroke ahead before suffering a bogey on 12th and disastrous triple bogey on the 13th hole. However, Rame compensated with bird in the 14th and 16th hole to pull within one shot of Shiva Ram. On the final hole, Shiva Ram was one shot ahead but he suffered a double-bogey and conceded the tournament to Rame.
Rame carded birdies on the second, fourth, sixth and seventh holes. He then added another birdie on the 10th before a bogey on the 12th and suffered a triple bogey on the par-5 hole no 13. Shiva Ram suffered a double bogey on the second and carded a birdie on the next hole. On the back nine, Shiva Ram carded birdies on the 10th and 15th before a double bogey on the final hole. Shiva Ram had carded a course record of eight-under 59 on the first day.
Purna Sharma finished third at one-over 202 after he played one-over 68 on the final day and received Rs 28,000. Deepak Magar (70) and Bhuwan Nagarkoti (68) shared fourth position at four-over 205 and earned Rs 20,000 each. Surya Prasad Sharma (74), Bal Bhadra (Mani) Rai (68) and Sanjay Lama (66) shared the sixth position at 207. They received Rs 14,000 each.
Nepal No 2 Rabi Khadka and Dhana Bahadur Thapa shared the ninth position at 208, while Chuda Bahadur Bhandari, Dinesh Prajapati shared the 11th position at 209. Arun Tamang won the amateur section title with the score of 10-over 211 after he shot two-over 69 in the final round. Tanka Bahadur Karki (73) finished second at 214.
Altogether 42 golfers, 35 professionals and seven amateurs, competed in the tournament sponsored by Nepal PGA President Rabindra Man Shrestha. NPGA President Shrestha, NPGA Advisor Ghana Shyam Thapa, and Nepal Golf Association General Secretary Tashi Ghale distributed prizes to the winners.
