NUWAKOT, May 20: Locals of Urleni VDC of Nuwakot district were badly affected by landslides ten months ago. This time around, they are victimized by the massive earthquake of April 25 and the frequent aftershocks. Traumatized by recurring natural disasters, locals now worry that they may never be able to earn their livlihoods in the near future.
“The landslide last year displaced us. Now it’s the earthquake. We doon’t know what’s coming next?” said Mama Ram Tamang, a local. “We have no idea where to go to keep ourselves safe,” he added. After the landslide, the locals had moved to another place and built new homes, which has now turned into rubble.
Another local, Sanu Kanchhi, said, “We were already affected by the landslides. The earthquake has only added to our plight.”
