KATHMANDU, April 25: Senior Maoist vice chairman Mohan Baidya said the Maoist movement going to be launched on May 1 will be disciplined, civilized and peaceful.

In an interaction on Sunday, he said though the movement is nationwide it will be centered more in Kathmandu.[break]

He added that there cannot be any debate on the extension of the tenure of the CA until the current government is in place. “The CA’s tenure can be extended only after forming a national consensus government,” he said.

He said the Maoists will launch strong protests including national general strike if the prime minister does not quit by May 1.

He said the prime minister’s remarks that he will quit if Maoists present any candidate for the prime minister’s post other than Pushpa Kamal Dahal as a conspiracy to bring in disputes in the Maoist party and split it.

He said it is not a time to talk about majority and minority and the country should be guided through national consensus. He said nobody can do anything by bypassing the Maoists.

In another context, he said the school strike called by the Maoist student wing is not linked to the party’s May 1 demonstration.

He said the party has full support for the student wing’s protest but the party won’t intervene in its programs.
