Protestors vandalize, torch FNJ Birgunj chapter

BIRGUNJ, Sept 21: A group of protestors vandalized and torched the building of Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), Birgunj chapter on Monday evening, according to Anup Tiwari, treasurer of Parsa FNJ chapter.

Agitating cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) also burnt copies of Annapurna Post, The Himalayan Times and Arthik Abhiyan at Chainpur, Bara along the Pathalaiya-Birgunj road section.Following the incident, the vehicles carrying Nagarik and Kantipur dailies returned from midway.

Meanwhile, an unidentified group has also threatened journalists of Kathmandu-based media houses over phone for not covering the ongoing protests in Madhes, according to the journalists who received the threats.

"I have received telephone threats from an unidentified person," said Dhruva Shah, vice chair of FNJ, Parsa.
