KATHMANDU, Jan 1: The investigation commission formed to probe the incidents of September 8 and 9 is preparing to send a formal notice summoning former prime minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli to record his statement.
The Commission Chairman Gauri Bahadur Karki on Thursday told reporters at Singha Durbar that a letter would be issued to summon Oli for questioning. However, Oli has repeatedly said he will not appear before the commission, maintaining that he would refuse to give a statement “even if he were shot.”

When journalists asked what the commission would do if Oli failed to appear, Karki responded briefly: “That will be known at that time.”
Karki also said the commission recorded a second round of statements from former home minister Ramesh Lekhak on Wednesday and that his testimony has been completed.
Although the commission was initially given a three-month mandate, its term has been extended by an additional month due to unfinished work. Karki said discussions have been held with the government regarding the progress of the probe.
“We discussed how far the work has progressed. The deadline has now been extended by one month and we will submit the report within that time,” he said.
