Private TV channels return to normal airtime routine

KATHMANDU, April 13: Three months after cutting short their airtime by five hours daily due to increased number of load-shedding, Nepal´s privately-owned television channels decided on Monday to normalise transmission.



A statement issued by Television Broadcasters Nepal (TBN) said the TV channels will continue their regular transmission with effective from Monday midnight, with the onset of the Nepali New Year 2066.

The statement said there are some improvements in the load-shedding hours and the TV channels have received positive support and assurances from the government. TBN has added that the emergency situation declared in the broadcasting sector has ended.


TBN had announced in early January that its member TV channels would go off air between midnight and 5am.
