Prices of petro products hiked

KATHMANDU, March 14: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) increased the prices of petroleum products on Sunday.



The price has been increased by Rs. 2.50 per liter in petrol and Rs. 2 per liter in both diesel and kerosene effective from Sunday itself. [break]



Petrol will now cost Rs 80 per liter, diesel and kerosene Rs 61 per liter in the Kathmandu Valley.



With the increased price, NOC will now profit Rs 1.85 from per liter of petrol, Rs. 9 from per liter of kerosene and loss Rs 1.32 from per liter of diesel.



After the implementation of the new prices, NOC will lose Rs 54 million per month. It was Rs. 190 million previously. NOC profits Rs 15 per liter in aviation fuel and loses Rs 168 per cylinder of cooking gas.



NOC said that the latest price was determined based on the rise of petroleum products in India, according to Bachhu Kafle, the Deputy General Manager at NOC.



NOC is the only petroleum product supplier in the country.
