Prez summons House meeting

KATHMANDU, May 15: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has called for the 11th session of legislature-parliament beginning 4 pm, Thursday. The president took this decision after holding consultations with Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai as per Article 51 (1) of the interim constitution.



The house meeting will convene at the Constituent Assembly building in New Baneshwar, according to a statement issued by the president’s office. [break]



Prime Minister Bhattarai had held a meeting with President yadav at the latter’s office in Shital Niwas Tuesday afternoon. He had briefed the president about the agreement between the three major parties and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) on promulgating the new constitution within the stipulated deadline.



In a landmark agreement, UCPN (Maosit), Nepali Congress and CPN UML and UDMF leaders settled various contentious issues including the system of governance and number of provinces to be drawn in the federal map of the country.
