President Dr Yadav had left for India on January 27 on his second visit to the southern neighbor. During his stay in India, he held meeting with his Indian counterpart Pratibha Patil, Vice-president Muhammad Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Meera Kumar, External affairs minister SM Krishna, Home Minister P Chidambaram, Defense Minister AK Anthony and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
President Dr Yadav also held meetings with Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar, Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Lal Krishna Advani, opposition party leader in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Speaking at a press briefing at the VVIP lounge, Culture Minister Dr Minendra Rijal, who had accompanied the president during his meeting with Indian political leaders, said the meetings dwelled on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. “The president conveyed his sincere thanks and deep appreciation for the warm welcome and generous hospitality accorded to him and members of his delegation,” he said.
Minister Rijal said India reaffirmed its continued support and cooperation to Nepal. India also expressed its support to take the ongoing peace process to a logical end and promulgate the new constitution on time.
