President summons top leaders to discuss statute

KATHMANDU, Aug 15: President Ram Baran Yadav has summoned six top leaders of four major political parties at his residence in Sheetal Niwas on Saturday to discuss constitution writing.

At a time when protests are being staged against the demarcation of provinces, the head of the state called top-notch leaders at 7 pm today.


Nepali Congress (NC) President and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Chairman of Madheshi People's Rights Forum (Democratic) Bijay Kumar Gachhadar have been called for the dinner party.

Likewise, Chairman of Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (CPDCC) Baburam Bhattarai and Chairman of Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) Krishna Prasad Sitaula too have been invited.

Few days ago, President Yadav had drawn attention of Bhattarai and Sitaula on errors in the draft of the new constitution.
