Preparation to successfully mark democracy day

KATHMANDU, Feb. 14: A meeting of 61st National Democracy Day Publicity Sub-Committee attended officials and individuals of various sectors on Monday decided to carry out role from their respective sides to successfully observe the Democracy Day. [break]



The meeting chaired by Secretary of Information and Communication Sushil Ghimire decided to do their bit by various government agencies, state-owned media channels and NGO sector, said member secretary of the sub-committee and General Director of Department of Information, Shreedhar Gautam.



For this, the Home Minister table a report by monitoring and coordinating works undertaken by various bodies on Feb. 18, 19 and 20; Nepal Army will prepare a venue at Sainik Manch to rain flowers and fly balloons; Nepal Police will provide security and Armed Police Force will carry out other necessary works in Sainik Manch.



Similarly, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Lalitpur Municipality, Bhaktapur Municipality, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality and Kirtipur Municipality will organize a tradition cultural performance of Kathmandu Valley.



The District Administration Offices of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur, Department of Printing, Central Regional Directorate, Nepal Red Cross Society, Bir Hospital and Traffic Police have been too directed to do their bit.



Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Nepal Television, Radio Nepal, Gorkhapatra and private media houses will disseminate and broadcast news related to Democracy Day till three days with due priority.



Director General Gautam, Acting General Manager of RSS Ram Kumar Koirala, Chairman of Gorkhapatra Corporation Bijaya Chalise, Chairman of Nepal Television Kundan Aryal, Executive Director of Radio Nepal Tapanath Shukla and representatives of private media houses took part in the meeting.
