KATHMANDU, Sept 13: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has decided to extend power outage by up to 3 hours in a day starting from Sunday.

With the fresh increment, the total load-shedding hours in a day would reach to 7 hours. Currently, there is power outage of 4 hours in a day. [break]

According to the NEA the load shedding time is set to increase by three hours due to the government’s plan to upgrade the transmission line at the Kushaha-Kataiya area which can transmit only 132 KV currently.

Given the winter season when more power will be consumed, the government is all set to upgrade the conductor of the transmission line, which will double its transmission capacity.

Currently Nepal is importing 80 MW electricity from India.

According to the NEA, the upgradation work of the transmission line will complete within two weeks.
