At an interaction organized by the Asta Ja Campaign´s Valley Struggle Committee and poultry farmers in the capital city on Wednesday, the poultry farmers demanded the government to clearly identify the disease, control further damage, and manage the separation of normal fowls and ensure the restoration of the entrepreneurship.[break]
They further demanded to mobilize a team of health workers in the bird flu-affected areas citing the possible hazard on human health.
At the program, Spokesperson of the Bird Flu Control Campaign Dr. Pradip Chandra Bhattarai informed that the bird flu control campaign had reached the final stage, and local chickens would be culled at Bhaktapur from Thursday.
Chairman of the Poultry Farmers´ Association, Jung Bahadur BC, said the poultry farmers were hit hard after the bird flu. It has not only disheartened poultry farmers but also rendered loss to national economy, he added.
Similarly, Chairman of the Asta Ja (Eight Ja) Campaign, Lok Krishna Bhattarai, said the government needs to take measures to restore the business of poultry farmers considering the loss of properties.
Chairman of the Youth Farmers´ Association, Baburam Thapa accused the government of becoming indifferent to the problems in agriculture sector.
The Asta Ja Nepal Campaign is a organized effort to promote agriculture with the use and promotion of Asta Ja- jarajuri (plants), jamin (land), jal (water resource), jungle, jadibuti (medicinal herbs), janashakti (human power), janawar (animals) and jalbayu (climate).
